September 2024 Fraud Trends To Be Aware Of

Using Zelle Safely

Zelle is a fast and convenient way to send money, but it's important to use it securely. Since Zelle transactions are instant and non-reversible, we recommend following these best practices:

  • Only send money to people you know and trust: Scammers may pose as friends or businesses to trick you into making payments. Scammers will also pose as Zelle support asking you to send money to verify your account. Zelle will never do this.

  • Verify payment requests: Always double-check payment requests, especially those from unfamiliar numbers or emails. Zelle will not email you from a gmail or commonly used email domain.

  • Be cautious with urgent requests: Scammers often create a false sense of urgency to pressure quick action. Take your time to ensure it's legitimate. Be aware of subject lines stating your account is locked unless you take immediate action by sending money.

If you're ever unsure about a Zelle transaction, don’t hesitate to contact us. It’s better to verify than to become a victim of fraud.

Spotting Spoofed Calls

Protecting your personal information is a top priority at Keystone Bank, and we want to remind you of the following security tips:

  • Keystone Bank will never call and ask for your personal account info, passwords, online banking credentials, multi-factor authentication (MFA) codes, or PINs.

  • Be cautious with unsolicited calls: Scammers often “spoof” numbers to make it look like the call is coming from a legitimate source. If you receive a suspicious call, hang up immediately.

  • Call us directly using a trusted phone number: If you ever receive a call asking for sensitive information, hang up and call us using the official Keystone Bank contact information to verify the request.

By staying alert and following these simple guidelines, you can help protect your financial security. If you have any concerns or questions, please reach out to our team.

Keep up with the latest
