Job Description:

The VP-Retail Operations & Deposit Strategy, is responsible for efficiently and effectively managing retail and back-office operations ,create and maintain all related platforms, policies, procedures, and internal controls, and manage all related personnel. Assist in Branch expansion – planning and procurement of all necessary equipment, to include pneumatics, vaults, alarms, surveillance, and access control.  Product development/project management, oversight of the ongoing refinement of processes and services and development and launch of new deposit service offerings.  And, oversight of all deposit growth initiatives , including marketing and public engagement, the development of a formalized deposit pipeline structure, deposit forecasting and reporting, etc.

Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Manages depository account relationships by serving as one point of contact for the client
  • Primary contact between client/retail/treasury management to ensure a seamless process for clients (ex. Coordinate account opening)
  • Manages day to day requests from depository clients for wire requests, transfers and other transactional inquiries
  • Monitors depository accounts tied to loans as collateral for proper setup and administration
  • Position will have overdraft decision making authority based on client relationship and evaluation of client account status, position will be responsible to review all factors and make an appropriate decision based on those factors
  • Deliver meaningful, sustainable value to customers by anticipating needs and expectations and providing appropriate value-add solutions
  • Ensures integrity and timeliness of customer information, documentation, and data
  • Ensures each relationship is profitable and represents appropriate risk
  • Product development/project management, oversight of the ongoing refinement of processes and services and development and launch of new deposit service offerings. This  includes,technical oversight of product infrastructure within the bank's core platform and ancillary deposit product platforms.  

Business Development:

  • Direct deposit growth initiatives and efforts for the bank including loan officer, treasury staff, private client and other deposit staff activities.
  • Utilizing the bank’s CRM software and other reporting, track and build accountability into all deposit growth initiatives and goals at the product, department and individual level.
  • Continuously evaluate the total bank deposit product offering and identify gaps.  
  • Develop products to fill gaps and participate significantly in efforts to market those products.
  • Train the deposit team to have a sales mindset as they interact with customers.
  • Identify opportunities for new depository or treasury management business within existing portfolio and through networking with new clients
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of commercial banking products & services
  • Actively work with Sr Relationship Managers to learn how to increase and perfect business development efforts
  • Provide existing and prospective customers with appropriate financial services and advice
  • Represent the bank in meetings with customers, prospects, industry associations, etc. in order to develop new business
  • Expand deposit base opportunities to develop book of business over time

Skills & Qualifications:

Education Requirements and Minimum Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of banking experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of managing depository relationships
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of banking experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of  managing depository relationships

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Familiarity with treasury management services and other banking products
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit to drive customer satisfaction and bank profitability
  • Ability to form effective relationships within the organization in order to deliver the best client service
  • General banking knowledge
  • Sound technical skills
  • General knowledge of laws and regulations, and compliance related to commercial banking
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate on behalf of the bank and borrower while appropriately balancing risk and shareholder value
  • Proven ability to identify client depository and treasury management opportunities
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as analytic and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility as business dictates
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to make independent decisions related to job responsibilities
